"We Stole A Ride to Freedom"
The story of how a heroic train driver, Jaroslav Konvalinka, drove a trainload of people out from behind the "Iron Curtain" -- from a town in Czechoslovakia across the border to West Germany -- on September 11, 1951.
He and Karel Truska, his partner in this courageous venture, published their story in the February, 1952 issue of "The American" Magazine. A digest of it appeared in the May, 1952 "Reader's Digest." I have a copy of the article and will snailmail it on request.
